I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based treatment built on the theory that one’s thoughts, behaviors, and feelings are connected and influence each other. CBT aims to help people become aware of when they make negative interpretations, and of behavioral patterns which reinforce maladaptive ways of thinking.  With a developmentally tailored and skills-based approach, I teach youth to develop alternative ways of thinking and behaving, which aims to reduce their psychological distress. Role-playing in session and practice activities are introduced to help reinforce the ideas presented. Youth and their parents take an active role in treatment, and are expected to participate in out of session home exercises, as this is the most effective and efficient approach to reducing symptoms and creating meaningful and sustained improvements in functioning.
